Jim Powell is the lead pastor at Richwoods Christian Church in Peoria, IL and the Founding Director of 95Network – a non-profit network of churches and church leaders in the 95% of congregations in the United States considered to be small or mid-size.
Jim and his wife Stephanie moved to Peoria to take the position at Richwoods Christian Church in 1997. At the time, the church weekly attendance was 65 – in the subsequent years since Jim took the role as lead pastor, the church has experienced significant growth, and now has a weekly attendance of about 1400 across two campuses and four services. Richwoods believes its best years are still ahead.
After graduating from the High School Jim attended John Wood Community College for 2 years completing his Associates degree in Communications. He then went to Columbia International University in South Carolina for one year before graduating with his B.A. in Theology and Religious Studies from Quincy University. He then completed his M.A. in Theology and Philosophy from Lincoln Christian Seminary.
Jim, Stephanie and their two boys enjoy life in Peoria with their English Mastiff, Roxie. Jim is a big fan of the Fighting Illini and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Jim teaches regularly at Richwoods Christian Church, speaks at conferences and also provides coaching and consulting. Jim was a featured speaker at the online conference the NINES the fall of 2012, the same year he launched 95Network. Jim published his first book, Dirt Matters, in 2013.
